There are only 8 objections. Everything else is a costume.

Money, timing, logistics, trust, self-worth, third party, value, avoidance — learn the families, not the lines.

The TrainingDen Playbook

It feels like patients have infinite ways to say no. They don't. Every objection in a dental consult belongs to one of eight families: money, timing, logistics, trust & fear, self-worth, third party, value & result, or avoidance.

The reason this matters: patients routinely state one family while meaning another. 'The holidays are crazy right now' is timing on the surface — and very often money underneath, because money is embarrassing and timing isn't. Handle the costume and you lose; the patient agrees with your excellent point about scheduling and disappears.

The trained move is to honor the stated objection without arguing, then get curious about what's underneath: 'Totally fair — and just so I'm not guessing, if January were wide open, is this something you'd want done?' Silence after that question tells you which family you're really in.

Our AI patients are built exactly this way — a stated objection wearing a costume, and a real one that has to be earned.
